The Halos took the first two games from their rivals in Seattle with the third game today at 7:05 PT. This is an important stretch for the Angels as they face Seattle and Oakland as they head into the all-star break. Ervin Santana (W, 9-3, 4.13) didn't look as good in yesterday's outing as Jered Weaver (W, 5-0, 1.35) did the day prior, however, a win's a win. Offensively the team has begun to re-form, with Juan Rivera homering twice in Tuesday's game.
Darin Erstad has begun rehab, again, and, is expected to rejoin the team for the weekend series against Oakland. That'll probably see Tommy Murphy or Erick Aybar sent back to AAA, Chone Figgins moved back to 3B, and Macier Izturis riding the pine; which is too bad, the team has been "gelling" of late, Izturis is breaking out of his slump, and overall they've looked good these past three games.

My impression of the Erstad news was that he was just joining the team to travel with them and work out with the trainers - and he wasn't going to be activated. Did I miss something?

You are correct, he will be joining the team, however, this is a prelude to his taking a roster spot from a performing player. Also, you can't be sure what his locker room presence will be like if he is going to be out indefinitely.
